So don't even THINK about asking for a Travel Permit!

QUOTE: "THE STATE OF SOUTH DAKOTA ONCE AGAIN IS RESPECTFULLY REQUESTING THAT PAROLEES AND PROBATIONERS NOT BE ALLOWED TO VISIT
SOUTH DAKOTA OR ATTEND THE STURGIS MOTORCYCLE RALLY DURING THE WEEK OF AUGUST 7TH - 13TH, 2006. YOUR COOPERATION AND ASSISTANCE IN THIS REQUEST WOULD GREATLY ASSIST OUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT'S ABILITY TO ENFORCE THE LAW DURING THIS TIME PERIOD WHERE THERE HAVE BEEN UP TO 500 THOUSAND PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE."

Do they REALLY think this memo is going to make any difference? Hahahahaaaaa!

I can hear the parolees' internal dialogue now: "Hey, man! It's time fer Sturgis! Better give m' probation officer a call, let 'er know ah'm a-gonna be a-drinkin' and a-causin' trouble! Yeee-haw!"

I am thinking Miss Kitty is so right.

That is where I am really going. Not to New Mexico.

Got my halter top on now. Yep.

I love how they couldn't decide if it was more impressive to write the whole number or to spell it out, so they kind of met themselves halfway with "500 THOUSAND".

~thinks to herself~ Seems as though Lane Bryant halter top is an oxymoron.

I don't know---we once drove through Wyoming and South Dakota during Sturgis Week and I came away with a strange impression that a lot of the folks out there on Harleys were respectable citizens puttin' on the dog whilst out of town and out of sight. Maybe they are the ones behind this request??? (The Presby Pastor a few towns over is a Harley rider--no directives regarding clergy so far I guess?)

the coffe shop up the street has what we call "biker church" every sunday morning. like, maybe 20 bikers - wait. That's not the same thing at all, is it. I'm sure they don't put out any bulletins about keepin away anyone on probation.

If the State of South Dakota successfully keeps away all the probationers and parolees who regularly attend the Sturgis motorcycle rally, there may only be about 17 people who show up.

PCT -- you might be surprised by how many of those "respectable" citizens are on probation.

Did I ever tell you about the time my parents (then 70 and 75) went to Sturgis during the week?

By mistake?

They were just on a driving trip through that part of the country. And, they said, "there was this place in South Dakota with ALL THESE MOTORCYCLE RIDERS!!!"

"Um, was that Sturgis by any chance?"

"How did you know!?"

Mom reported that they were all SUCH nice people, and she wanted to buy a T-shirt, but my dad wouldn't let her. (!!???!HAH!) I immediately went to the website and bought her a Sturgis 2000 sweatshirt for Christmas. She wears it proud.

Yeah, cause no one else is going to break the law...just those probabtioners, and parolees. Yep if those people don't come then its just going to be a nice little picnic and then everyone will go home. Yeah right!
