Friday Cemetery Blogging

Band camp is almost over. Its been really good. I've especially enjoyed learning about the difference in management styles between Gen X and the Baby Boomers. Lord, no wonder we can't just all get along! This is the sixth or seventh time I've been to Sam Houston State last 13+ years. I've only dealt with the Criminal Justice School and it is some kind of different. There is a constant cloud of artificial testosterone in the air. Its like smog

Those afflicted with artificial testosterone are pretty easy to spot. They always, always, always back into a parking space. Their shirts are heavily starched and cut so as to give the appearance of broad shoulders and a narrowish waist. They wear many bits of shiny metal - key fobs, over sized, function-stuffed wrist watches, bulky rings and metal-rimmed sunglasses. Their hair is very, very short. And stiff. The aren't able to wear their "side-arms" but they do make it a point to wear belts that exhibit visible wear points where the holster would normally hang. The opposite side of the belt supports the phone holster. The cell phone substitutes for the other substitute that they aren't able to wear inside the school. There is some sort of weird anti-correlation that results in the phones being quite tiny.

Plenty of women around here are just as bad as the smoggy guys. They can be kind of frightening, too.

If you look closely, there are lots of other men and women without the smog cloud. They're usually sort of scruffy.

I like scruffy people.

I like mossy tree branches, too.

This is one of my photos from the cemetery here in Huntsville. This is the statue I was trying to get a good shot of. I like this one, but its still not exactly right.

And this is a bit of the rainy cemetery.

Great pix, Spooky. BTW, have you ever been to the Holiday Inn that sits south of I20 at Beach Street in Fort Worth? The entire hotel has been built around (and truth be known, probably on top of) a cemetary.

Pretty wild.

Now that is cool. Wish I'd known that last summer! (Have y'all seen that commerical for Priceline or someone where the people unsuspectingly end up in the hotel built next to the cememtery? I'd be all "Score!" if I were them! ha ha!)

I love the pic of the peaky trees. Makes me want to squint and see if someone is running naked through the rain on the hillside beyond. At least I think it's a hillside. I was gonna post in response to Jan 22 "at band camp", but I procrastinated. Anywho, I so absofreakinlutely do not ever in any way with any one in any place like to "hang" out with strangers in those seminar trips. Jeeez-oh-pete, I would rather just be asked to pose naked in front of the class for an hour or so than say, "Hi, I'm Cynthia, what's your name? Want to go grab a bite and hear 100 interesting facts about me?" I tend to get a migraine or something convenient like that, if possible and just lay on my bed and read. So draining to put on a friendly face. Your description reminds me of a Victims Advocate class in Topeka last year. (picture me shuddering as I write this.)

Exquisite! Where I work, there are the girly girls and the practical girls. It's winter, and we all work with little kids. The girly girls will wear tight black boots with skinny, spiky heels to match their black pants. The practical girls will wear wool socks and hiking boots. The practical girls are definitely scruffy. Which one do you think I am?

Love the photos--but, hell, I love *every* Friday Cemetary Blogging entry. At least it was raining when you hit the graveyard this time. :-)

I'm not into "bondage," either. I like keeping to myself on training and conference trips; they're like mini-vacations to me, with all the extra time by myself that I get to spend in my hotel room.

LMAO on the Testosterone Droids!

The first time I saw that Priceline commercial I said to my husband, "HEY! Rach needs to go there!" He thought I was insane, especially when I tried to describe you and your proclivity for cemeteries (which I share).

There is so much about me he doesn't get, including blogging, but he loves me anyway. His eye sockets get a lot of exercise though, from all the rolling.

My cousin in Herford says you guys are in the deep freeze in the panhandle. If interested I'll send you her name and she can direct you to our family plots in your area. You might find those stone interesting.

Send me the info grandma1! I went to the Hereford Cemetery a couple of weeks ago. I spent about four minutes and took photos of one stone before I decided it was too dang cold to mess with that and I went back home. So, I'll be headed that way again soon!
