Escape from Alcatraining

I sneaked (snuck?) out! Yup. Skipped the institutional-b-b-q dinner and went to the cemetery. And do you want to know how perfect it was? Do you really?

It. was. raining.

I get a little weird about rain. A slow drizzly rain lasting for days and days is my very favorite weather. When it rains, I want to be outside soaking it in. When I lived in town, if rain woke me in the middle of the night, I would go out for a walk. (No street lights in the country. And there's coyotes. heh.) I've been stopped by the police a couple of times when I was out walking in the rain at 2:00 a.m. They always assumed I'd been drinking. Hmm....

Anyway, the rain is also great for gorgeous color in your photographs, as long as you can keep your camera dry. This evening I went to the Oakwood Cemetery, which is where Sam Houston is buried. I've been there before and there is a statue there that I've never been able to satisfactorily photograph. There was not a lot of time before the light gave out, but I think I got some good shots.

And now, I should be doing my homework. Something about assessing my strengths as a manager. I guess I'll quit writing and do something im.por.tant. Is there any way to frame procrastination as a strength?

For non-institutional barbecue, ask around and see if you can get directions to the New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where the church ladies reportedly fix transcendent barbecue, Wed.-Sat.

And that is my only Huntsville chow tip.

I think you'll come up with some - eventually (grin)

Greetings, my sister in weirdness! I too enjoy rain that drizzles on for days. The only thing I don't enjoy is having to get out and go to work in it. I'd rather stay at home in my jammies.

Can't wait to see your photos. And I understand the problem with trying to explain exactly why it is that you are going to the cemetery.

Let me know when you come up with a way to frame procrastination as a strength. Procrastinating often does keep one from making a hasty (wrong) decision.

Zorra - the Church of the Holy Smoke? Been there and it is GOOD. And you are right, it really is the only really good place to eat here. I'm sure there must be out of the way dives that serve great food, but I don't know where they are.

Lorna - that was GOOD! Made me snort my coke!

Annie - Yep, can't beat the rain. I think I got a couple of good shots. Will find out soon!

Procrastination is nothing more than careful contemplation and exploration of all proposed options in the decision-making process.
Not only is consideration and research of all options and their consequences a sign of strong leadership, but it also helps to build an ethical reputation which in the long run will greatly benefit your organization.

If you would like, I can site references for my opinion.

Woot! for escaping from the prison.

Did you know that Huntsville has an exceptionally large Filipino population? How's your Tagalog?

Hey, you are at the site of my Alma Mater. Although the big ole Sam Houston wasn't there oh so many years ago. Keep trying to find humor and joy in the week. It will be over soon. When do we get to see the pics?

I don't think I've ever been to Huntsville. I can tell you a million other eating places in the middle of nowhere, though...(if the nowhere is in the middle of the oilpatch anywhere, that is.)

Can't wait for the pix!

And...the week's nearly over! Woot!!

Oh my gosh! I love rain; the very kind you mention! Everybody who knows me well, knows this about me. I also love cemeteries! I think I may be your sis as well as Annie up there. The only thing is, I don't think it is weird at all. We all find our peace in varied ways...

Glad you made the getaway for a bit. Procrastination can be healthy I think. Well-- as long as I keep thinking that way, I can stay fairly healthy, right?
