Quiz:
Questions
1. Guess what you have not done yet?
2. Guess who took notice this morning?
3. Guess what was not in your truck?
Answers:
1. Expired inspection sticker
2. Our friendly local Fake Cow City Police Officers
3. A new/current insurance card
After dropping Katie off for school, a nice police officer pulled me over and pointed out to me that the inspection sticker on the 2001 Ford F-150 was expired and I was asked for my license and insurance verification. But a current insurance card was not located in said truck, only expired ones. So then the nice policeman lectures me for 5 minutes on the state law which requires a vehicle receive an annual inspection which must be kept current at all times and the law requiring that current proof of automobile insurance be made available at all times while operating a motor vehicle on a public highway or street in the State of Texas. I was then questioned as to why I was driving a vehicle registered to another person and when I informed the nice policeman that the registered owner of the said vehicle was my spouse, I then had to go into the explanation as to why the registered owner of said vehicle which I claimed to be my spouse had a different last name.
I do not know what gods were shining down upon me but they had to have been since I only received a warning and not a ticket. Long story short, you need to get the said vehicle (2001 Ford F-150) inspected and the registration expires at the end of this month.
Sincerely,
Jackson

And I suppose I should admit he asked me last week whether or not I had put a new insurance card in the truck. Aaaannnndddd the only reason he was driving the truck was because I was whining about the possiblity of a windy ride home on my bike and had convinced him to drive the truck so he could give me and the bike a ride home.
Geeze.
You and he are quite the pair! Thanks for the laugh I had to suppress while sitting here at my desk.
*snickers* That is too funny!
I just thank God that I was not drinking coffee when I read this!
Your husband is very nice. Standards of decency prevent me from telling you the hideously tortuous punishment I would have received if I had been in your shoes. And his patience in listening to the officer go on and on!! A medal is in order. Or at least special favors. ;)
So, you do you have to pay a penalty for an expired sticker? We do in California. Arnold drives a Hummer you know and that gas budget is reeeeeal 'spensive.
I noticed my husband's Durango had an expired Registration sticker this weekend. I wonder if I should tell him, he'll never notice it himself.
Of course I would get blamed for it if he got a ticket, but nearly this creatively. I'm impressed.
Scott got pulled over for a similar infraction a couple weeks ago. His was for an expired registration sticker. The thing about that is that our registration is current, but the sticker somehow did not make it to the window (still hasn't). The nice policeman looked it up and found that the registration was current, so Scott was given a warning for that one. He got a ticket for the expired insurance card, but that was easily taken care of by showing the current card at the courthouse.
There but for the grace of God go I...
So not on the ball with the inspection stuff.
Yikes...you remind me that my own sticker is expired. Thanks for the reminder.

what a hoot! i love it. how lucky he was. had they arrested him that different last name would of come in handy in the media!
p
It amazes me how the police or the highway patrol can tell from across the road, at 55 mph, that your sticker is expired! Somehow they know! Do they develop those visual-perceptual skills at the police academy?
So glad Jackson just got a warning!
Come on Rach, get your job done. Don't wait for the MAN to take care of business!
HAHA!!
and WOW.
You write these stories so well!!!
Dear, dear Jackson! So glad he only got a warning.
Officer Friendly doin' his job!
Jackson must have a perfected facial expression that I must learn the secret of. NO ticket!
Rachel, do you remember the very oddly decorated car that our son Greg owned? I borrowed it one day to go to school and, yep, got stopped for the outdated inspection sticker. I agree with Zorra--how do they see these things?
Very, very funny.
Ain't it a pain in the rear, dealing with all these little details??
Ok, there is this famous blog preacher most of us know. Just in the driveway of the church, he was pulled over for expired sticker. Nice policeman says,"Aw, rev, please get that updated. Just let me see the insurance card."
No insurance card.
"Ok, I have to write a warning. Let me see your driver's license."
Yes, boys and girls, he had left that, too. It is amazing the things he gets away with just being the Real famous preacher.
we don't have stickers :) phew! and everyone is insured to drive everyone else's car (provided they have permission) makes life a LOT simpler.
brave Jackson - you are a lovely man and I hope Ms Rachel really compensated you :)
