Friday Cemetery Blogging

Can you believe I forgot it was Friday? Even after griping all day yesterday about how I had to work today? Oops.

I took the top photo in a cemetery in White Oaks, New Mexico last week. I've written about this place before. It is one of the unintentionally spookiest places I've ever been. It is becoming more of an artist's colony type of place, which is zapping some of the spooky out of the atmosphere, but it's still cool. The next picture is one of the houses there. I've never seen anyone in or around this house - although it's obviously inhabited - but you can feel the eyes behind the curtains watching your every move as you make your way around town.

Two cool photos, Spooky-poo!! I really like the one of the house. I can feel the eyes staring at me now as I write my comments.

It definitely sounds like a really neat place. I think I need to get out a little more!

I have to head back to work Monday. The professors and the students won't be back in full force until the 12th. I think our first order of business next week will be a movie viewing (perhaps Mama Mia, I am not sure)/meeting about something or other that is very important! Sigh, it is a rough life for some of us!

Y'all both crack me up!

Great photos! That second one does look like the quintessential haunted house, inhabited by someone whose spouse mysteriously disappeared, never to be heard from again...

Definitely, Kim! And I think I can see an old lady in a rocking chair at one of those second floor windows.

I love the top photo! Did you play in photoshop with layers or did it just come out that way.

HOT!

Cynthia has me really worried.

I love these photos. I think you are getting better at taking them and I did not think that was possible.

And not once did you mention the cape. tsk tsk

And it appears that I have the hiccups...how did that happen???

Haaa! Hang on Mindy, I'll race over to your office, cape flying along behind, and give you the Heimlich!

Dijea - yep, both are photoshopped. I used layers on both and then "unlayered" the part I wanted to emphasize. The background layer in the first photo is a shot of some muslin fabric hanging in the light. You can find great textures to download for free on Flicker. (But I bet you already knew that.)

Cooool. Someday I will attend your photshopping class.

That would be photOshopping class. I am having trouble with my vowel movements.

bwaaaahahahaha!

I did not know you could download textures on Flikr (you know, if you spell that Flicker incorrectly, I think it brings you to a porn site, and I can never remember how it is spelled to get to the photo site, ahem...) Anyway, I'll have to go check out the textures. What is Sam Hill do you mean by "unlayering" the textured part?? I use layers in Photoshop, but I am not quite sure what you mean? Would you email me an explanation?

(WV: hunglog--why do I always get the weird WVs on your blog??)

You guys need to buy that house and use it as a vacation home. And maybe you could plan a few blogger retreats?
Love the pix.

I actually "snuck" into a cemetery today. Yes, snuck - like thru a fence when it wasn't open. Shh, don't tell anyone. No pics though. I mean who could read the hebrew anyway.

elastigirl: I would LOVE to hear what you think about it. There is not much to it, but we have been there several times, just because the locals freak us out. haha! (However, get there fast. There is an art gallery there already and I can see signs of a renewed sense of civic pride cropping up here and there. Such a shame...)

Patti: We soooo need that house! And we'd have a revolving door of blogger guests! Wonder if they'd wanna sell? Wonder if they'd sell exceedingly cheap?

dijea: I won't tell a soul. shhh.

The House......even from here, I can see the rocking chair in one of the upper windows. Showers would be a definite no-no.

GREAT pics. You got talent.
