I Don't Know If I Have Enough Bleach.

It's been raining here most of the day. Flowers always look best in cloudy weather and I thought the honeysuckle was especially pretty against the grey porch.

Katie's birthday is next week. She has a couple of friends over to eat her daddy's cooking and spend the night. They're nice kids. Kids you can leave to their own devices without second thought. I was busy playing with some modeling clay when they came into the kitchen and said they were going out into the alley to slide in the mud. Harmless fun - they were wearing flip-flops which could be easily washed off and a few muddy feet never hurt anyone. I said "No problem. Have fun."

They had fun.

A lot of fun.

Sigh...

Ooo, I thought my boys had fun in the mud oh those many years ago! Glad to see that mud baths are still so happening!

I love it--and remember doing something very similar at their age. What did you do to help clean them up, just turn the hose on them? What a great day they had.

And that is a memory that they will never forget!

I love how the pup got her leg into the pic!

My kids did that more than once. What's on the agenda for next time?

Oh, I love it! I want to be that age again, when it's FUN and not yuk at all. When she's bigger, Katie might enjoy the Glastonbury Festival on this basis...

Everyone needs to do that at least once. I love it when it gets in your ears.

And once again, how come yall are getting all the rain?!?

Esperancza - It's 'cause I've been livin' right. No doubt.

Reminds me of when my eldest went to a yearly cider press party. As I was driving up to get him, I noticed two particularly filthy, mud-covered creatures. I muttered something like, "Oh, geeze...who ARE those kids???" Turns out one of them was mine.

Nothing like great memories!

Ahhh. You have Tom Sawyer camp right in your own back yard!

That looks like a righteous good time was had by all!

Been there & done that with my own. Forget bleach & buy new. Those clothes are history, lol. When my two were little, I used to dig a hole out in my garden, fill it with water, assign shovels & pails and leave them alone. Before long, all the kids in the neighborhood wanted to come to our house to make mud pies. They usually came out looking much the same as this pic, lol.

Nice post.

I found you through Janie @ Sounding Forth.

heeee heeee Reminds me of the time my brother came screaming around the corner of the house and I threw a mud pie at him. He had his mouth open and it filled with mud from the pie! He still gets upset about it 25 years later! heeee heeeee

Wow. I wish I'd been there.

Be glad they're not toddlers. Back in the '90s, I once had to hose off my 2-year-old nephew, who had stripped buck nekkid before he sat in the mud hole...
