We went to the depot, of course.
I needed a new Santa Fe train shirt.
We wandered around among the train cars.
And were impressed with Katie's chameleon-like abilities.
I followed the tracks of the elusive Swamp Thing.
Then we played on the caboose for a while.

I really don't know if we were allowed to climb around on the trains like we did.
One of the engines was still running!
But no one tried to stop us, so we had a good time.
As for the depot itself - not all that impressive.
Fake Cow City has a more interesting version of the Santa Fe Depot.
I'll post pictures of it another time.

I miss cabooses....you just do not see them any more. We always waved to the man in them and he always waved back.
Damn I am old.
I love the pics!
Dang, I removed the 2nd post cause I had hit the button twice and double posted. But now it looks like I wrote something tacky and then had second thoughts.
Lucky you! You got to play on trains! Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I love the sound of trains--it's a blast from yesteryear, and from my childhood. My house is two blocks from the tracks (old "mill village" neighborhood) and I fall asleep to the lonely sound of horns and the rumble of steel on steel every night.
I hope you'll post some info on how/where this train yard is. Or where *any* are, for that matter. I'd love to go play on trains instead of work. :-)
This train yard is in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I really can't believe they let us do that. I'm guessing no one knew what we were up to! ha ha!
