Friday Cemetery Blogging

Not So Much, Anymore.

I wish

...that I understood French. All the naughty bits in the book I'm currently reading are in French. Hard to enjoy peaceful perusal of mysterious tomes when the laptop is propped open on one knee so I can look up the translations. (It's a British mystery written in the 1930's; therefor the naughty bits consist of lines such as "You intoxicate me" and "I wish I were in his shoes" and "now is the time for him to learn the difference between kissing and embracing" and the like.)

...Sinclair would stop eating the trees and digging up the yard. Other than that she's the perfect dog. She's so mellow. And she's rubbing off on Zoe just a bit. Zoe is ever so slightly less bouncy now that Sinclair is here.

...it were possible to fast forward to the end of this week. The stress! Argh! (But I am taking a few hours off on Friday the afternoon in honor of the thirteenth.)

...y'all could've seen the guy's face stopped next to me at the red light this morning. (Notice how it's "the" red light. 'Cause there's only one. Ha!) I like to listen to my music LOUD. So did the kid in the little Toyota. His hip hop was no match for my Puccini.

(I'm not an opera connoisseur as a general rule. This was just a fragment from Turandot - Nessun Dorma - that was included in the movie soundtrack that I was listening to.)

...someone could explain to me why the movie "My Bloody Valentine - In 3-D!" came out in the middle of JANUARY??? And now it's gone, gone, gone. Guess we'll have to see the new Friday the 13th movie, instead. Darn it.

I am very curious about your little Texas town. Only one stop light, but some very interesting tombstones and cemeteries.

For a non opera aficionado, you recognize a lovely aria when you hear one. What's the soundtrack?
I've always loved the aria from The Shawshank Redemption, but Nessun Dorma was a fave from the Three Tenors CD.

I hope your Friday afternoon is rejuvenating.

Well, to be perfectly truthful, there is more than one light, but only one between my house and my office. Fake Cow has somewhere in the neighborhood of 22,000 folks.

We do have a pretty cool cemetery here, but the pictures come from all over this area. This particular shot was taken in Groom, TX which is north and east of here.

I can't remember the aria in TSR, but now I'm curious. I gotta check that out...

Ole Frank musta caught it from his friends when he was in school and they called roll using last name first, and then his nickname. *hee hee*

That would have been a great film clip at the red light.

And I cannot watch the new horror films. They are too realistic and remind me of the neighbors I am always trying to forget about.

I wish:

It was 5pm.

That my Wal Mart list was already done.

That I was 10lbs lighter.

I'm just shocked that "POOPIE" appears on anyone's tombstone!

spookyrach said...

And Poopie Quick at that. I dunno.

There is a picture of a Model T Ford etched on the back of this tombstone. Evidently Poopie was quick in the car, too.

Are you reading Dorothy Sayers, Busman's Honeymoon?

Those long, lovemaking passages in French pissed me off!!!

I love to turn on classical or opera and mess with my children. I love all kinds of music and have been caught listening to some rather embarassing stuff.

I wish.. I was 25 gain. I wish... I had made the first poopie comment.

Poopie! Quick!

I guess they moved over from the quick to the dead.

I wish...I was somewhere warm and sunny and beachy.

Spooky: Je parle le francais. What's the juiciest bit that you want translated?

(Book editors were strange in the 30's. When I was in college I had to do some research in a book on Chinese art that was published sometime during the between-war years and the dirty parts were in Latin!

spookyrach said...

Shay - laughing about the latin bits. haha! Actually, the quotes I included in the story were the juiciest. The kiss vs. embrace one was probably the raciest. ha!

Just a lurker here - Years ago, my little ole mama gave me an 8 ( ! )CD set of Luciano Pavaratti - I love to spring clean with the windows wide open and turn it up LOUD!

Thanks for the fun today.
