Friday Cemetery Blogging

Been playing around with Photoshop and layers and textures. So far, so good.

How has your week been? I've had a cold or some sort of flu or something all week long. This afternoon I finally started to feel human again. I'm really glad I'm getting over this before next week. Everyone is going in different directions this year, so Jackson and I are doing something we've always wanted to do at Christmas. We're going spending it in a cabin in the mountains in Ruidoso, NM. Should be fun!

What are you doing for Christmas?

Oh, that sounds wonderful. Do y'all ski? I would love to go away for Christmas, but we'll be right here. We're keeping it low-key this year, though, and we aren't hosting dinner, so all I have to make is the veggies.

Nope. No skiing. Jackson is trying to talk me into tubing, but I'm sure he'll find a way to hospitalize himself if he goes anywhere near a slope. Even if he goes down sitting on his rear.

After seven ankle surgeries and two knee surgeries, I'm gonna divorce him if he tries to ski. ha ha!

That sounds heavenly. Except I would want to ski some.

We are, hopefully, sitting on our behinds on the couch and staring at the tv. And eating junk food. We'll let A play with wrapping paper if she wants. The big celebration will be the next week with the family.

Have a great time. Last time I was there I learned how to put snow chains on the tires. Very useful skill.

Great getaway! But definitely keep Jackson off the slopes.

Up here in the usually mild PNW, we're heading into a major ARCTIC BLAST. Schools have been closed since Wednesday. We'll be paying for it, but we might actually have a white Christmas.

Esperanza: The forecast looks to be sunny and pretty warm, so I'm hoping no chains will be necessary! *crosses fingers* My family does Christmas on New Year's, too. You always work on Christmas, too, right?

dust bunny: Yep. No slopes for the cripple. I bet artic blast means ARTIC-FRIGGIN' BLAST in your neck of the woods. I lived in Montana for three years as a kid and still never had a white Christmas. ha ha.

We're having a hard candy Christmas. Sister's funeral is Monday.

We'll work like crazy people, through Christmas Eve. Then collapse on said behinds on said couch. Then get up and get ready for Sunday. One of those seems to come around every week or so.

Have a great time.

Sounds like fun! We will be hanging out around here.

I'm glad you are feeling better. My hubby has been down with something or other. I swear, if I catch it from him, right now, at the beginning of my two week holiday....

I LOVE the Photoshop work you did on this photo! I hope to be able to play a bit over my break. I've been reading a digital photography book I got on sale and it has a lot of good ideas that are inspiring me.

Hi rach, I have some kind of vestigial notion that Ruidoso is a big focal point for quarter-horse breeding, racing etc. -- yes? no? Hope you have an absolutely wonderful time off and away.

Ruidoso is a center-point for horse racing and breeding during the Spring and summer months, but during the winter the focus turns to a winter wonderland with Skiing. It is nestled in a quaint village in the mountains and it the heart of the historical Lincoln County (Lincoln County War, Billy the Kid).

In reference to my skiing, to set the record straight, I select not to ski which has nothing to do with Rach, but I will be on the smaller slopes inter-tubing at sometime during the trip. And of course to our surprise one of the only places to eat which will be open on Christmas day will be at the Billy the Kid casino, so our Christmas Day festivities will include a trip to the slot machines.

Wish us luck with the tubing. Ambulances will be standing by.

Yep, we will spend Christmas day in a smoky little casino, marveling at the sad dregs of humanity who have nothing better to do with their joyless holiday than to give away their life's savings, one nickle at a time.

They will no doubt be thinking the same thing about us.

After leading worship Christmas Eve and attending LH's late night Christmas Eve worship service, we will have our traditional midnight toast of champagne and brie. Christmas Day finds us vegging at home, opening gifts from far away friends and family, talking on the phone with my family, enjoying an easy dinner, playing with the greyhound and lazing about.
Enjoy a beautiful and wonder-full Christmas!
