Smokey is Dead. Long Live the Bear!

Every morning that I rode my bike to work this summer, I passed this helpful public service announcement billboard:

  3. Oh, I sincerely needed that. Good chuckle stuff. Today is a not so good one and I need to know that the guvment, in the form of the Forestry service, is protecting you out in the vast forest lands.

  6. Maybe they could change the sign to "only you can prevent dust storms" Not so dramatic but a bit more rational.

  9. Oh, but wait...did you know that one of the largest national oak forests exists in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico?

That's right...it's the shinoak forest. Shinnery to us locals.

So, yeah...you could have a forest fire up there. Course, the ranchers would probably love you for it!

  14. Haa-haa! Love Mindy's comment! You'd think they could put up a sign with pheasants and skunks on it to advise protecting our prairie friends.
